Dharma talk: April poetry
What I said, more or less:
We just had the full moon, and yesterday was the Artemis II launch (so exciting!!) On top of that, it’s national poetry month, and I need no excuse to read a poem.
April
I wanted to speak at length about
the happiness of my body and the
delight of my mind for it was
April, a night, a
full moon and-
but something in myself or maybe
from somewhere other said: not too
many words, please, in the
muddy shallows the
frogs are singing.

Dharma talk: April poetry reprise
What I said, more or less:
It’s national poetry month, and I need no excuse to read a poem.
The Joy is Half Full
After Kate C. Bowler’s “Joyful Anyway”
Oh, April
lend me a sliver of your optimism
Unfurl for me tiny, vivid fists of hope
Conspire on my behalf and stupefy me
with surprises
Shower me with stilness and
warm my silly face with gratitude
April, if you’d be so kind,
Help me place myself in joy’s way
so I become brighter, better
even if
even when
nothing else does
